Full time students at St Martin’s Institute of Information Technology are now eligible for the financial aid given to students undergoing tertiary education in state institutions.

This has become possible through the recently announced Government Scholarships Scheme – Under-graduate Courses (MFSS-UG), through which students receive a scholarship equivalent to the amount paid in stipends and other maintenance grants to University of Malta students.

St Martin’s Institute of IT is licensed by the Education Ministry to prepare students for degrees conferred by the University of London.

This is a unique opportunity for students holding any two “A” levels and four “O” levels (including mathematics and English) to read for one of the following three-year degree programmes:

• BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance (with exemption from the ACCA)

• BSc (Hons) Business

• BSc (Hons) Economics

• BSc (Hons) Economics and Management

• BSc (Hons) Economics and Mathematics

• BSc (Hons) Management

These degrees are offered by St Martin’s Institute in Malta and led by one of the world’s best known universities – the University of London’s London School of Economics. Graduates of these degrees are fast tracked into jobs in leading financial centres such as the City of London and Wall Street.

The Maltese financial sector, already contributing 25 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), is also growing in importance, especially after Malta joined the European Union in 2004.

The fact that there exists a national consensus on this sector augurs for a bright future with greater opportunities.

Over 350 students are following these degree programmes as well as others in IT at St Martin’s on a full-time as well as a part-time basis, including a number of European and other international students.
