Last week, the former International Hall in San Marino’s Borgo Maggiore was rededicated to the memory of Joe Cassar, the former Zurrieq mayor who died some years ago.

Zurrieq is twinned with Borgo Maggiore and a Zurrieq delegation travelled to Borgo Maggiore to celebrate the eighth anniversary of the twinning.

Mr Cassar was one of the local personalities in Zurrieq who had pushed for the twinning.

The twinning has resulted in exchange visits and more are to come, which will also include the elderly.
