On Saturday, at 11.45pm a motor yacht, English Rose, ran aground at Cominetto Reef and called the Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) Malta seeking help.
RCC Malta dispatched two vessels, rescue launch Melita 1 and Patrol Craft 24, who rescued 65 persons and disembarked them at Cirkewwa.
The yacht, which was taking in water, was towed to Mgarr, Gozo where it is usually berthed.
