GO is responding to the green challenge and launching various eco-friendly strategies following the successful rebranding exercise in June. In fact, recently GO employees were urged to team up with their management and contribute towards a recycling campaign by handing in obsolete paper-based stationery.
The initiative was met with outstanding success as GO employees handed in huge amounts of ‘old’ stationery ranging from promotional material, letterheads, envelopes, business cards and other customer-facing stationery. Spurred on by the success of the venture, in the coming days, GO will be proceeding to the next phase of the recycling process and is expected to process two jam-packed 20-foot containers filled with this material for recycling through a leading local waste management operator.
“Our specific target through this green campaign is to contribute to a better environment and be more socially responsible for the benefit of the community in which we operate,” said GO’s Administration Director, John Saliba.
The company boasts a history of environmentally-focused measures aimed at improving living standards. GO’s predecessor, Maltacom, collected old directories from customers as an integral part of its door-to-door distribution of new directories to be sent abroad for recycling. Meanwhile, the company’s mobile arm, GO Mobile has for many years utilised carrier bags and even top-up cards manufactured from paper-based material which is also the case for GO’s current paper-based stationery and cards.
When the Foresta 2000 afforestation project in Mellieha was completely destroyed by vandalism, GO took prompt action and was one of the first local companies to contribute towards the re-forestation of this area.
During an on-site visit to the company’s bring-in site, Franco Aloisio, GO’s Head Communications and Public Affairs said: “Our employees are becoming more and more conscious of the need to promote and safeguard the environment. We would like to thank them for participating in this exercise. We hope our customers will appreciate the company’s commitment to team up with major players locally and ensure better waste management strategies for the benefit of future generations.”
