HP is supporting the Life Cycle Organisation for the second consecutive year in its noble mission to help patients suffering from end-stage renal disease.
This year, HP is donating a number of HP products to ease the administrative work of the Life Cycle Organisation and to ease organ-transplant coordination. These products include an HP Photosmart R837 digital camera and an HP Photosmart A612 Compact Photo Printer together with photo packs with print cartridges, an HP Officejet Pro L7580 all-in-one fax/printer/scanner and an HP Compaq 6710s Notebook PC to be used to aid organ-transplant coordination.
In addition, HP is donating an iPAQ 6915 Handheld PDA with GPS/maps to help the Life Cycle Organisation during this year’s challenge. The HP products have been supplied through HP’s authorised distributors and service partners in Malta, Fortune Technologies Ltd and Systec Ltd.
Michel Portelli, Business Unit Manager, HP MEMA (Middle East, Mediterranean and Africa) said: “Through our support, we hope to facilitate the course of action of the Life Cycle Organisation. The products we are donating will be used to enhance the organisation’s operation and, as a result, contribute towards providing a better quality and efficient service to the patients and their families. Moreover, the HP iPAQ 6915 Handheld PDA with GPS/maps is the ideal logistical tool to be used during the Life Cycle Challenge by the support team, since it provides the latest mobile-computer, camera, communication and GPS navigation technology all combined in one portable hand-held device.”
Entitled Where Only Eagles Dare, this year’s arduous Life Cycle challenge, which is taking place between 9 to 21 August, attracted 53 cyclists and a 20-strong back-up crew, with 27 cyclists successfully completing the training and meeting all the requirements necessary to participate.
Starting off from Romania, the team will be cycling through Ukraine and Poland, ending in Germany, covering a total distance of 2,345km and crossing two mountain ranges: the Carpathian and Tatra mountains.
The Life Cycle Organisa-tion is a voluntary non-profit organisation that works closely with the Transplant Support Group, the Renal Unit at St Luke’s Hospital and the Health Department. Its aim is to support patients and their families and raise awareness about renal disease and organ donation.
“The money collected during this year’s challenge will be used to further enhance the equipment available at the Renal Unit at St Luke’s Hospital and other hospitals and clinics in Malta. We want to improve the quality of life of renal patients and their families. We are grateful for HP’s continuous support in helping us achieve this,” said Alexandra Bonnici, one of Life Cycle’s organisers.
