Senior Appointments at Gasan Group

The appointment has been announced of P. Danny Rosso as a director of the Group’s Holding Company, Gasan Group Ltd, after serving this company’s board as its secretary for a number of years. Mr Rosso also sits on the boards of the group’s automotive, insurance, property and engineering companies and that of Melita Cable plc. Mr Rosso joined the Gasan Group in May 2003 as chief financial officer, a position he will continue to hold.

Prior to joining the Gasan Group, Mr Rosso, a certified public accountant and an associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, had a 22-year career with Bank of Valletta plc, where for the last three years he occupied the position of chief accountant. He also ventured into financial consultancy and sat on and chaired a number of boards

In 1992, Mr Rosso joined Melita Cable plc as financial

controller, was subsequently appointed financial director and his last position was that of managing director. Mr Rosso, who still occupies the post of non executive director on the Board of Melita Cable, played a key role in the recent multi-million euro sale of the company to GMT Communications Partners.

Juan de Battista, who joined the Gasan Group in 1979, was recently appointed to the post of company secretary of Gasan Group Ltd, following his highly successful track record with the group’s various divisions. He currently holds the position of deputy chief financial officer of the Gasan Group and sits on the board of the group’s engineering companies.

Mr de Battista is a certified public accountant and a

chartered management accountant and in 1995 obtained his MBA from Brunel University, London. For a number of years he lectured in management accounting at the Malta Institute of Accountants.

In a statement to the press, Gasan Group chairman Joseph A. Gasan said that both Danny Rosso and Juan de Battista had earned their promotion to these very senior and key posts in the group’s structure, through their very valuable contribution to the group’s growth and consolidation.
