One News journalist Charlon Gouder has been gravely censured by the Journalist Ethics Commission of the Institute of Maltese Journalists after he breached the code of conduct twice in a year.

The commission was asked on 28 February by the then Mosta Mayor Joe De Martino to investigate Mr Gouder following the broadcasting of an interview. Mr De Martino had claimed that Mr Gouder was not faithful to the interview and gave a gratuitous interpretation to Mr De Martino’s answers.

In fact clause 4e of the Code of Ethics of Journalists stipulates that interviews have to be carried in bona fide and changes should be carried out with the interviewee’s consent.

In a statement, the Nationalist Party’s Councillor’s College said the Labour media has once again been found guilty of “manipulation and deceit”. This latest sentence, said the college, adds to Labour’s record of mudslinging that has been censured by the Courts of Justice, the Broadcasting Authority and the Journalist Ethics Commission.
