On Saturday, 11 August the OASI Foundation’s primary prevention team, together with the OASI Drug Free Youth Group – ZEST, held the 16th annual open-air festival Riflessi Sajfin, at the Menqa in Marsalforn, Gozo.

The three-hour festival, which started at 8pm, was a huge success, with a variety of artistes, both young and not so young, performing on stage and hundreds of Maltese, Gozitans and visitors attending the event.

The stage, made available by the Gozo Ministry’s Culture Depart-ment, was equipped with the latest light (by MICHO) and sound (by ProStage Sound) technology and the thrilling experience was a delight for presenters Brendan Borg and Ylenia Caruana.

The OASI Foundation stages Riflessi Sajfin with three clear aims. It is primarily to promote local talent as an alternative leisure activity by providing up-and-coming young artists with an opportunity to perform on a professionally equipped stage in front of a large audience. Secondly, the event provides a channel through which OASI can promote its messages against alcohol and drug abuse, and thirdly it provides free, family-friendly entertainment for the general public in return for its support over the years.

In fact, a number of new performers, as well as established singers and dancers, were given the opportunity to perform this year. The latter included Thea and Friends, Deborah C, Audrey Bartolo, Nicole and Brenton Azzopardi.

The organising committee of Riflessi Sajfin 2007 expressed their thanks to the sponsors who made the event possible: GO, General Soft Drinks Ltd – through Kristal Water, The Farsons Foundation, Casa Fungi, Kempinksi Hotel San Lawrenz, Hilton Malta, Hotel Calypso, Grand Hotel, the restaurants of Kartell, Pebbles, Brookies, La Stanza, and Cachet, Paradise Property, The Look Boutique, Swan Card Gallery, Portelli Confectionary, GFS Ltd, ICS and the local councils of Zebbug, Victoria, Xaghra, Ghajnsielem, Fontana and Xewkija.

The committee also thanked all those who participated on and behind the stage and the public who have always given OASI Foundation their support and appreciation.

And finally, the committee expressed their special thanks to the ZEST Youth Group and all OASI volunteers for their organisational support and to everyone who helped to make the 16th Riflessi Sajfin the success that it was.
