Malta Independent Wednesday, 15 August 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

A 43-year-old businessman from Balzan, who told the court that he is the importer of pyrotechnic products, was yesterday fined Lm50 after pleading guilty to selling pyrotechnic products without a licence issued by the Police Commissioner.

The court heard that he has been importing these products for a number of years and did not know that he needed a licence to import and a separate licence to sell the products he imported.

Raymond Mamo, the owner of Mamo Pyrotechnics, pleaded guilty to selling gunpowder and other explosives on 7 August and the preceding months.

Magistrate Michael Mallia fined him Lm50.

Police Inspector Jesmond Borg prosecuted while Dr Martin Fenech appeared for the accused.
