An undisclosed amount of fireworks which were manufactured and being kept illegally was yesterday seized in a raid in a locality in the limits of Naxxar, police said.

The raid was conducted by members of the Police Special Branch, assisted by Naxxar district police.

A person who does not hold the necessary permit to manufacture fireworks is helping the police with their investigations.

Duty Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani Grima, who was informed about the case, appointed various experts, including Architect Richard Aquilina, Armed Forces of Malta Captain Jeffrey Curmi and members of the Police Forensic Section, to help in the inquiry.

Police investigations are still under way.
