A 27-year-old Libyan, residing in the Ta’ Kandja accommodation centre, was yesterday remanded in custody after he was accused of coming back to Malta after a deportation order was issued against him.

Giuma Hamid Noureddin pleaded guilty, before presiding magistrate Jacqueline Padovani, to returning to Malta after a removal order was issued against him on 13 December 2006.

He also pleaded guilty to giving false information to the police on 31 August

Noureddin pleaded guilty to insulting and threatening a police officer, breaching the peace and disobeying police orders on Thursday.

He also pleaded guilty to escaping from custody on 15 September 2006 and 19 September 2007.

Following his guilty plea, magistrate Padovani remanded Noureddin in custody pending judgment tomorrow.

Police inspector Edel Camilleri prosecuted while Dr Beppe Fenech Adami appeared for the man.
