As part of the 400 years celebrations of when Mosta became a parish, and to celebrate the foundation day of the Nicolo Isouard Philharmonic Society, the Nicolo Isouard Band is performing a special annual grand programme on Saturday 20 October at 7.30pm at the Catholic Institute in Floriana.
After their success of the previous performances that all were highly acclaimed, this year’s special grand concert will not be an exception. In this concert, the Isouard Band will perform the Overture Un Jour De Paris by Nicolo Isouard, the double concerto for clarinets by Ponchielli with soloists Stephen Dimech and Michael Pirotta, the 2nd movement of Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony, and ending the first part with a selection of Rigoletto.
But the highlight of the programme is the 2nd part when the band will perform Star Wars by John Williams and the majestic work Mars and Jupiter from Gustav Holst’s The Planets. In this special programme, some of the soloists are from the Isouard Philharmonic Society.
The band is will be conducted by its Musical Director Mro. Emanuel Spagnol.
