In July 2026, the number of final deeds of sale and promise of sale agreements relating to residential property amounted to 1,207 and 1,147, respectively, data published by the National Statistics Office stated on Tuesday.

This news release presents data on residential property sale transactions based on the date of registration with the Malta Tax and Customs Administration (MTCA).

In July 2026, the number of final deeds of sale relating to residential property amounted to 1,207, a decrease of 5.1 per cent when compared to those registered in July 2025. The value of these deeds totalled €417.6 million, representing an increase of 3.6 per cent when compared to the corresponding value recorded in July 2025.

The residential property transactions featured in this release are not limited to purchases by individuals (households) but may also involve other economic agents. In addition, a single final deed of sale or promise of sale agreement may include more than one property.

In the month under review, 1,081 (or 89.6 per cent) of these final deeds of sale involved individual buyers (households), with companies accounting for virtually all remaining deeds. The value of the deeds involving individual buyers (households) amounted to €320.2 million, equivalent to 76.7 per cent of the total value.

The highest numbers of final deeds of sale were recorded in the following localities: San Pawl Il-Baħar (89), Marsaskala (60) and Il-Mosta (54).

During the month under review, 1,333 properties were transacted through final deeds of sale. Apartments (470) and Garages (331) accounted for the largest shares, at 35.3 per cent and 24.8 per cent, respectively.

In July 2026, 1,147 promise of sale agreements relating to residential property were registered, equivalent to a decrease of 6.5 per cent over the same period in 2025. The value of these agreements totalled €483.3 million, representing an increase of 9.7 per cent when compared to the corresponding value recorded in July 2025. Individual potential buyers (households) accounted for 1,007 (or 87.8 per cent) of these agreements, while the rest mainly involved companies.

The highest numbers of promise of sale agreements were recorded in the following localities: San Pawl Il-Baħar (115), Birkirkara (77) and Il-Mosta (53).
