Two men yesterday pleaded not guilty to assaulting and seriously injuring another man.

Paul Mallia, 25, from Qormi and Renald Attard, 22, from Marsa, pleaded not guilty to assaulting and seriously injuring Owen Jones on 14 June in Qormi.

They also pleaded not guilty to assaulting Mr Jones, detaining him against his will and breaching the peace. Renald Attard alone was charged with relapsing in view of previous convictions.

Police Inspector Jesmond J. Borg prosecuted while Dr Chris Cardona appeared for the accused. Magistrate Saviour Demicoli presided over the court.
