The New Choral Singers, under the musical direction of Robert Calleja, will present a choral concert of sacred music at St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta on Friday at 7.30pm.

This concert will form part of Voices for Hospices 2007, the international activity whereby more than 500 concerts are simultaneously held, in over 60 countries around the globe to mark the World Hospice and Palliative Care Day. The aim is to raise funds as well as public awareness regarding the invaluable work of hospice and palliative care units world-wide.

The New Choral Singers are proud to be Malta’s entry for the Voices for Hospices 2007. The concert will include music by Mozart, Frank, Rutter, Howard, Viadana, Tallis and Josef Bugeja. The highlight of the evening will be Josef Haydn’s Missa Brevis Sancti Joannis De Deo.

The choir will be accompanied by the St James Consort orchestra led by Sarah Spiteri. Furthermore, John Aquilina will be the organist for the evening, while talented soprano Rosabelle Bianchi and bass Albert Buttigieg will both deliver solo performances during the concert.

Members of the general public are cordially invited to attend this musical event, which is supported by the Ministry of Finance – National Lotteries Good Causes Fund. Entrance to the concert is free of charge however the audience is invited to join the choir in their support of The Malta Hospice Movement.

This concert is being put up with the assistance of the Metropolitan Chapter and the St John’s Co-Cathedral Foundation. Stiletto and narrow-heeled shoes are prohibited on the inlaid marble floor at St John’s Co-Cathedral.
