GO is giving its full support to the Gozo CCU Monitors Foundation and has made a donation towards upgrading equipment in the hospital’s cardiac care and intensive therapy units. Funds raised by the foundation will go towards purchasing seven monitors and a central monitoring unit for the nurses’ station at the Gozo General Hospital.

The foundation’s vision is to gear the hospital’s cardiac care unit and intensive therapy unit with cutting-edge equipment built on state-of-the-art technologies. This equipment will guarantee advanced cardiac care ‘close to home’ for Gozitans and even for non-Gozitans – including Maltese, expatriates and holiday makers who are taken ill and require immediate medical intervention for heart and vascular disease during their stay in Gozo.

“GO is delighted to have the opportunity of teaming up with the foundation for a most worthy cause. We hope that our contribution serves to enhance the sterling work of the fund raising campaign towards upgrading the hospital equipment. In the near future, once the foundation reaches its goal, the cardiac care and intensive therapy units will be even more efficient in the valuable services it provides to the local community at large,” said Maria Jourdan, GO’s Sponsorships and Corporate Social Responsibility Manager.

“The initiative underlines our strong involvement with the Maltese community. The sponsorship proves that GO is committed to the principles of effective corporate social responsibility. Over the past year or so the new company has stepped up its drive towards implementing a wide-ranging CSR programme targeting an improved quality of life for the society in which it operates,” she said.

Carmen Bellamy, Chairperson for the Gozo CCU Monitors Foundation thanked GO for its support and said that the success of the fund-raising campaign largely depended on the generosity of caring companies like GO. Mrs Bellamy appealed to companies and individuals to make donations to help their cause. “Gozo hospital is not only used by Gozitans, but by Maltese people who own property in Gozo and also by holidaymakers from various countries. Raising funds for the hospital could be considered as a shared responsibility,” she said.

During the presentation held at GO’s head office in Marsa, Maria Jourdan presented the cheque to Mrs Bellany in the presence of Peter Edgson Wright, the foundation’s Vice-Chairman.
