The Manoel Theatre will host the first concert of the Queen Elisabeth Musical Voyage on Monday at 8pm when the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra will perform under the direction of Christopher Warren-Green and Jean-Bernard Pommier. The programme includes works by Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Mendelssohn and Bach.

The Queen Elisabeth Musical Voyage is organised by the Queen Elisabeth College of Music in Belgium to give the opportunity to the travellers to follow a group of young gifted musicians and the masters who provide the teaching – pianist Abdel Rahman El Bacha, baritone José Van Dam and violinist Augustin Dumay – along with some musicians who have come to join them – Maria João Pires and Jian Wang with the Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra. The first concert of the voyage will take place at the Manoel.

The Sinfonia Varsovia, formed in 1984, has toured all over the world and recorded with a dozen international labels, collecting the Grand Prix du Disque, the Diapason d’Or and the Fryderyk prize.

The Queen Elisabeth College of Music was founded in 1939 by Queen Elisabeth and Count Paul de Launoit and now stands among the best European schools. The college stages 60 concerts a year, both on its own premises and at other venues.
