InterContinental Malta is holding a Noodle Festival from today to Saturday at Eastern Breeze restaurant where award winning Chef Karyanto and his team are offering the best of Asian cuisine and a selection of noodle dishes. Chef Karyanto, has recently joined Inter-Continental Malta as head chef of Eastern Breeze. He trained at hotel school in Indonesia and has worked in the kitchens of international five-star hotels in south east Asia and the Middle East for most of his career including Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Oman and Kuwait. For most of that time, he focused on his specialty, Asian cuisine.
“My career so far has been a case of celebrating the difference,” he says. “I have learned a lot through working in different cultures. It has helped me develop my knowledge of Asian food and to learn about varied ways of preparing dishes and using ingredients. My team at Eastern Breeze is multi-Asian: Indonesian like me, Thai, Mongolian and Chinese. That gives us lots of authenticity.”
Ably helped by his assistant Kamali, who is also new to the team as chef de partie, Chef Karyanto has put together a new and creative menu and will be serving Ramen, Kare and Teppan noodle dishes as a special treat during this week. Eastern Breeze is now open seven nights a week from 7pm to 11pm except on Fridays and Saturdays when last orders are at 11.30pm.
