A leak developed yesterday morning at the pharmacy department at Mater Dei Hospital.
In a press note, the Foundation for Medical Services (FMS) said it took the necessary steps to rectify the situation. The leak is thought to have been provoked by a broken water cooling pipe.
No medicines or equipment was damaged by the leak that developed during the night.
The foundation pointed out that according to an agreement between government and Skanska, the contractor is liable to pay for damages developed until 28 June 2008. This period is referred to Defects Liability Period.
FMS also pointed out that the leak does not hamper in any way the migration of services and facilities from St Luke’s Hospital and Mater Dei Hospital.
