A 28-year-old man from St Paul's Bay was grievously injured in a traffic accident in Swieqi on Monday morning.

Police said the accident happened at around 11:30am in St Andrews Road. Initial investigations indicate that the man was riding a Suzuki motorcycle when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle and fell.

The man received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to hospital by ambulance. He was later certified as having sustained grievous injuries.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing.
