EU Membership ‘helping’ Maltese companies

Malta Independent Wednesday, 31 October 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 20 years ago

EU membership was helping Maltese companies offer their services to foreign companies, MEP David Casa said during a visit to the Maltese company 6pm. In fact, he pointed out, he was aware that 6pm was a success story in IT, with annual revenue of over Lm6 million.

6pm has offices both in Malta and the UK and its clients include Cap Gemini, SunGard Vivista, Fujitsu, Verizon (USA), UK Local Government, Toyota GB and BT.

Mr Casa, who was visiting the company as part of constituency week, said that before membership Maltese companies such as 6pm met many difficulties in their operations. These restrictions had now disappeared.

6pm managing director Ivan Bartolo said among the advantages EU membership had brought were less expenses and much better business opportunities.
