Three men were yesterday arrested after 400 grammes of heroin were found during a raid at a private residence in Tal-Ibrag, Swieqi.
The police initially arrested a 45-year-old man who was found to be in possession of five grammes of heroin. This led the police to conduct a search in a residence in Tal-Ibrag, where the rest of the haul was discovered in the kitchen.
The man is known to the police and has already served jail time after being convicted of drug charges in the past, sources said.
A 38-year-old man from Marsa and 30-year-old man from St Venera were also arrested in the raid, the police said yesterday.
Duty magistrate Jacqueline Padovani appointed several court experts to assist her in the inquiry.
The police are continuing their investigations and the men are expected to be arraigned in court shortly, possibly even today.
