The American Chamber of Commerce – Malta (AmCham – Malta) will be hosting the second in a series of seminars entitled ‘The role of market makers in a stock exchange’.

The main speaker will be John P. O’Shea, a member of the New York Stock Exchange and chairman and chief executive officer at the Westminster Securities Corporation. The seminar will be held on Wednesday, 7 November at 8.15am at the Malta Stock Exchange conference hall in Valletta.

Speaking about this seminar AmCham – Malta president Anton Tabone said that “the theme chosen for this seminar stems from our belief that a stronger economy depends on an active stock exchange”. Other topics being discussed include electronic trading and its rising impact on US and international markets, as well as some of the challenges and difficulties of navigating an electronic market. The changing dynamic within US exchanges, as well as the rise of non-traditional exchanges such as the OTCQX trading platform will also be discussed.

The seminar is being organised with the collaboration of the US Embassy in Malta and the support of the Ministry of Finance, Malta Financial Services Authority, the Malta Stock Exchange and HSBC Bank, Malta.
