Lm207,000 Donation to ‘Dar tal-Providenza’

Malta Independent Friday, 2 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

The proceeds of an open day by Radju RTK held each year on January 1 have been presented by Archbishop Mgr Pawl Cremona, OP, to Mgr Lawrence Gatt, director of Dar tal-Providenza.

It was not for nothing that Mgr Gatt described RTK as the homes’ biggest benefactor – the sum presented ran to over Lm207,000(EUR482,180).

The RTK campaign in aid of the Dar tal-Providenza homes was hugely encouraging to them, he said. And the results showed that the homes belonged to all Maltese and Gozitans.

The Archbishop said that through this campaign, the Maltese showed their Christian roots, taking joy in giving out of what they had. RTK chairman Victor Formosa said the open day had been the 11th. In all since 1996, he said, Lm828,587(EUR1.93m) had been raised. RTK runs two campaigns during the year, one for Families in Need, to help children’s homes, the refugee section of the Emigrants Commission, and the Dar tal-Kleru. This is held between 28 November and 21 December. The other campaign helps the Dar tal-Providenza.
