Malta Independent Monday, 5 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

The University of Malta and James Madison University of the US will be offering a joint post-graduate degree programme leading, at the University of Malta, to M.Sc. in Sustainable Environment Resources Management – SERM, and to MS in Integrated Science and Technology – ISAT at the James Madison University.

The SERM Masters programme is the first of a series of joint Masters launched by the University of Malta in partnership with leading universities from North America, and being promoted by Tal-Qroqq under the International Masters Programmes name. The intention is to attract students from abroad, with the degrees being recognised both in the EU and in North America.

Lectures will be given principally at the old university building in Valletta, which goes back to 1598. Parts of the buildings are being renovated.

Cooperation between Tal-Qroqq and James Madison in science, technology and sustainability has been ongoing over recent years as a result of the work of Prof. Jonathan Miles from the College of Integrated Science and Technology of the US university, who set up a programme of studies in Malta for his students, which was highly successful.

The M.Sc. programme should start in September next year and will be conducted by Prof. Alfred J. Vella and Prof. Miles. Further information on the degree can be obtained from [email protected]
