Unifaun Theatre have just announced that they have extended their run of Peter Shaffer’s EquuS at St James Cavalier to the 16, 17, 18 November 2007. The production is the tale of young boy Alan Strang who, one night, blinds six horses and of over-worked psychiatrist Dr Martin Dysart who tries to cure him, only to find that to do so he must face his own demons and fears. Equus has been a controversial play ever since its first performance in London in the early 70s. It has since seen many a distinguished actor perform different roles in it, including Richard Burton, Tom Hulce, Peter Firth, Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths.
In Unifaun Theatre’s production, the cast, directed by Marcelle Teuma, consists of some established local actors like Alan Paris in the role of Martin Dysart, Colin Willis, Lilian Pace, Pia Zammit and Jean Pierre Agius as well as talented newcomers like Sean Buhagiar in the role of Alan Strang, Jan Zammit, Jovan Pisani, Clayton Camilleri and Valerie Blow. The magnificent set is designed by popular local installation artist Pierre Portelli.
As producer Adrian Buckle commented, “we are pleasantly surprised by the interest this production has generated and we are glad that once more the public has responded enthusiastically to our productions.”
Performances start at 19:30. Tickets can be booked on 21223216 or by email on boxoffice@sjcav. org.
