St Helena, revered in Birkirkara and in other parts of the world, was the mother of the Emperor Constantine the Great. Her story is full of personal tragedy, emotion and courage over personal pain to find the true cross of Our Lord and to spread Christianity around the Roman Empire.
This three act musical is written by Paul Micallef, with original music composed by Omar Coleiro. Choreography is left in the apt hands of Alison White.
There are around 55 actors taking part with singers Helen Micallef, Glorian Arpa, Renato, Mark Tonna, Carmelo Borg, Steve Camilleri, Lara Azzopardi and Antoine Micallef in the main roles.
George Peresso is the narrator.
Over 100 people are voluntarily helping out in this massive production. Building sets, some of them mechanised, sewing costumes and constructing various props amongst other jobs.
Helena is divided into three acts, which symbolise the three parts of Helena’s life, which also take part in three different countries. The music and choreography reflect the different country the musical play takes us to.
Shows are at the catholic institute, Floriana.
Dates: Friday 16 November at 6.30pm, Saturday 17 November at 6.30pm and there will be two shows on Sunday 18 November at 2pm and 6.30pm.
