Work Of Mario Serracino Inglott commemorated

He was born in Cospicua on 4 November, 1934 to Erien and Leonilda Serracino Inglott. He studied at the St Aloysius College, the Lyceum and attended courses at the Harrow College of Art and St Martin’s College in London.

He had a long career in the civil service, serving as Maltese High Commissioner to London and as Minister for Sport.

He also taught at Stella Maris College where he was very popular and was particularly dedicated to helping dyslexic students. He was also a member of the Academy of Maltese and was eventually made vice-president. He is also renowned for his love of the Maltese language and the work he put in to improve the standard of the language in broadcasting and official documents.

His work included paintings, novels, dramas and song writing. He passed away on 22 September 2007 after a long battle with worsening illnesses. Education Minister Louis Galea praised him for his dedicated work towards the improvement of the Maltese language.
