Malta Independent Monday, 12 November 2007, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

the globe will be raising funds in the aid of needy children everywhere.

In line with this global initiative, on Saturday 17 November, McDonald’s in Malta and Gozo will be organizing a number of entertaining and fun activities in all its restaurants aimed at raising funds for the McDonald’s Eden Children’s Fund. McDonald’s will in fact be donating Lm1.00/€2.33 from every meal sold on this day towards the fund.

The McDonald’s Eden Children’s Fund is a fund aimed at helping a truly special group of children in the care of The Eden Foundation. The fund was setup just over 5 years and in this time McDonald’s has collected over Lm31,000 for this fund.

The Eden Foundation aims to provide partnership to people in Malta and Gozo with learning disabilities. It helps them to achieve full inclusion to the best of their abilities by gaining access to mainstream education, employment and leisure activities-leading them to an independent life. The McDonald’s Eden Children’s Fund helps to finance a number of Eden Foundation projects including the upgrade of the specialized computer system used in one of the Foundations programmes, the Conductive Education and Multi-Sensory Programme and the completion of the interior decoration and the purchasing of new instruments for the creative arts programme amongst others.

“The Eden Foundation is a truly noble cause and its work is priceless to our community. It is with this spirit in mind that we look forward to helping this organization. I want to take this opportunity to invite everyone to visit his or her local McDonald’s restaurant on Saturday 17th November. By doing so people will be helping the children in the care of the Eden Foundation whilst enjoying a great and entertaining day.” said Mr. Melo Hili, Managing Director of McDonald’s Malta.

Among the many activities people can look forward to, there will be a number of different shows throughout the day, free pony rides and juggler and stilt-walker exhibitions. People can also look forward to meeting a number of local personalities who will come out to support the event - these include Ira Losco, Pablo Micallef from Deal or no Deal the cast of Nannu Spagu and the cast of Mini Bugz amongst others. Ronald McDonald will also be performing various shows throughout the day and he will be accompanied by Sunny – the Mascot of The Eden Foundation.
