The Malta Qualifications Council (MQC) recently held its second partners meeting of its Leonardo da Vinci project European Qualifications Framework – Flexible References and Methods of Evaluation (EQF-FRAME) in Barcelona.
The project is one of 10 other EU-funded projects focused on the testing of the European Qualifications Framework. The MQC is leading this project, which attempts to align tourism studies qualifications to the EQF together with five other partners - Austria, Slovenia, Spain, Italy and Greece.
The two-year project, which is led by MQC chief executive James Calleja, has already produced surveys from the six partner countries on the state-of-play of tourism studies qualifications in the context of the emerging European Qualifications Framework and how such qualifications can be aligned to the EQF on the basis of occupational standards and learning outcomes.
These surveys were integrated into a comparative analysis produced by Claire Said Briffa of the Malta Tourism Authority and was presented in Barcelona. These will lead to the design of a manual on the process used to align tourism studies qualifications to the EQF and the NQF.
