Resources and Infrastructure Minister Ninu Zammit yesterday saw works in hand at Zurrieq where a public garden and outdoor sports complex are being built on a site occupying 4,000 square metres of land.

Apart from the public garden, the complex will include a football pitch, a multi-purpose pitch, another for bocci and sanitary facilities and dressing rooms.

The area is prone to flooding the minister said, so they were building a considerable reservoir which, apart from easing the flooding problem, would also provide irrigation water. The reservoir’s roof would serve as the multi purpose pitch. Artificial turf would be laid on the pitches.
