Atlas Insurance signed a five-year agreement last week with the Santa Lucija local council to sponsor the renovation and maintenance of the renowned Chinese Garden of Serenity in the locality.

The chairman of Atlas Insurance PCC Limited, Walter Camilleri, and the mayor of Santa Lucija, Frederick Cutajar, signed the agreement during a ceremony held at the garden last month. The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, Chai Xi, who was also present at the ceremony, pledged his full support for the initiative by committing to provide Chinese expertise for the maintenance and embellishment of the Garden of Serenity.

Through this five-year sponsorship agreement, Atlas Insurance will facilitate the maintenance and upgrading work in this beautiful and unusual garden. The work also involves the setting up of improved CCTV and security systems as well as the maintenance of the various structures in the garden.

Mr Camilleri said the company was delighted to be making this contribution to the amenities available to the public in the south of Malta. It was being made to mark the first anniversary since the opening of its very successful regional office in Valletta Road, Paola.

The council of Santa Lucija praised the initiative of Atlas Insurance and augured that this gesture would motivate other companies to enter into similar agreements for the benefit of the general public.
