Malta Independent Wednesday, 9 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

Melita Digital customers will enjoy a great start to the New Year as a host of new channels have been added to an already rich line up of quality channels.

All Melita Digital customers have already started enjoying the Disney Channel, a 24-hour schedule featuring programmes targeted for children of all ages. The Disney Channel is the foremost channel for children and their families, targeting children from pre-school to young teens and all the family.

The Disney Channel is exclusively available to all Melita Digital customers.

Melita Connect customers can also avail themselves of a new channel, ‘The Style Network’, a channel dedicated primarily to a female audience including programmes related to fashion & design, home and shopping.

Even Sports enthusiasts will get their fair share of additional programming early in the year as Melita has secured the rights for the German Bundesliga, Club Channels FC Bayern Munich and Real Madrid TV, as well as other non-football events such as the PGA Tour in Golf and Mosconi Cup – the Billiards equivalent of the Ryder Cup, that saw Tony Drago captain the European team against the USA.

Melita Sports Club, that until now has been available only to Melita Sports subscribers is now being transferred to the Melita Connect package, bringing the total channels on this package to more than 90 – undoubtedly the richest line up of quality channels available in Malta.

“We start the New Year on the strengths of what was an exceptional year for Melita in 2007,” said Franco de Gabriele – marketing manager of Melita Cable. “Despite a very challenging environment, we have seen growth in our TV business and this is mainly due to the uniqueness of the content on offer, and the value for money we bring through our digital TV offering.”

“Last year was a milestone year for us as the company formally entered into the fixed-line business, closing the year with over 30,000 customers while continuing to increase customers also in the Internet market, consolidating the ONVOL brand as the leading brand for Internet services in Malta,” concluded Mr de Gabriele.
