The introduction of the euro is not simply the introduction of a new currency, it also means the creation of more and better work. The euro confirms that the economy is continuing to improve at a fast pace, and that the country is financially and economically stable.

“These are the primary ingredients that protect investors. With the euro, the interest of investors shall increase. The euro and the vision of the Nationalist Party for our country shall lead to new jobs, better jobs, and jobs in new sectors of a modern economy,” finance parliamentary secretary Tonio Fenech told the programme “News Desk” on Radio 101.

“Today Malta is the smallest country in the EU, with the second strongest currency in the world,” he added.

The road was not easy. The country went through some difficult tests to adopt the euro, and it passed with honours, thanks to the government led by Lawrence Gonzi. The Maltese welcomed this change with enthusiasm, as confirmed by the research published by the European Commission, Mr Fenech said.

“With partnership in the eurozone our country shall continue to strengthen its place in Europe, and this partnership will lead to the creation of new jobs in all sectors and in every level of society for the benefit of all Maltese and Gozitan families,” concluded Mr Fenech.
