The General Workers Union has drawn up an election memorandum, which it is presenting to the political parties, starting with Alternattiva Demokratika.

GWU general secretary Tony Zarb told AD chairperson Harry Vassallo that the document laid out a strategic plan about the country’s direction, and referred to various sectors of society, referring to the economy, investment, government finances, fiscal policy, the environment and health, among others.

Mr Zarb said the GWU considered the electoral programme drawn up by parties as a pact with the people, and therefore the parties should not make promises they could not keep. The people, especially the workers, were fed up of empty promises.

The memorandum is to be presented to the other parties in the coming days, and will be the subject of a seminar the union will be holding, to which all the political parties will be invited.
