“Our Pianoforte wines, the most recent range of wines launched in the market is expected to be accredited as D.O.K. when early this year, Camilleri Wines will be submitting the next round of applications for their wines to be accredited with the prestigious certification.” This was announced by Louie Camilleri, General Manager of Camilleri Wines during a recent courtesy visit to Rural Affairs and Environment Minister to present him with the first two bottles of Pianoforte.
The red Pianoforte, called Pianoforte Ebony consists of a blend of Syrah and Merlot whilst the white wine, Pianoforte Ivory is a new much anticipated blend of Chardonnay, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc grapes, a first for the local market and for Camilleri Wines. The novelty of Pianoforte also lies in the fact that this new range is specially designed for exclusive consumption in restaurants, hotels, bars and wine bars.
Speaking during the visit at the Minister’s offices, Louie Camilleri, explained how Pianoforte follows the now well-established tradition of Camilleri Wines in that all its wines are produced from grapes grown and hand-harvested in Malta. “We have come a long way since the official setting up of Camilleri Wines. In 2004 we launched our first premium wine and since then we have established ourselves as one of the main wineries on the island. However, throughout these years, we have always abided by the main principle – that our wines had to be produced from grapes that are fully-grown and harvested in Malta. The high quality achieved with our range of brands coupled with the astounding success we have gained in the market have proved that this strategy was the best one we could have adopted. The initial indications show us that Pianoforte will be yet another vital link in this string of successes.”
Louie Camilleri also referred to the recent developments in the wine industry mostly relating to the D.O.K. accreditation to the first Maltese wines. “This is an extremely important development not only for Camilleri Wines but for the whole industry.
“It rewards the continued and unremitting efforts to ensure a sustained improvement in the quality of Maltese wines – an industry which requires constant passion, dedication and commitment. We also consider this development as a vote of confidence in the products that we are placing on the market.”
Last week, Camilleri Wines announced that the first five wines, the Palatino Chardonnay, Palatino Vermentino, Palatino Sauvignon Blanc, gwl Chardonnay and a limited release of Palatino Viognier have already been accredited with the D.O.K. certification.
Thanking Camilleri Wines for presenting him with the latest Pianoforte wines, Minister George Pullicino said “the D.O.K certification is surely a historical moment in the field of wine production in Malta. We are witnessing a renaissance in the agricultural sector, particularly in wines.
Through this, consumers could rest assured that they are drinking wine produced in accordance with the world’s highest certification systems and therefore, a wine of high quality.”
Together with the Pianoforte wines, Louie Camilleri also presented Minister Pullicino with a special limited collection of classic musical pianoforte pieces on compact disc produced purposely to commemorate the launch of Pianoforte and distributed free during the actual launch.
“This exclusive collection of piano tracks by some of the greatest masters is our own personal tribute to this universal musical instrument which has inspired our latest range of wines Pianoforte. We hope that this collection of piano pieces will further promote the enjoyment and the experience offered by listening to some of the most beautiful piano pieces ever composed,” concluded Mr Camilleri.
