The 310-room Khamsa Hotel in Gammarth, Tunisia, has joined the Ramada International lodging system and been renamed Ramada Plaza Tunis, at a re-flagging ceremony. The hotel, owned by the Malta-based Corinthia Group and operated by Corinthia Hotels International (CHI), is the first property to operate under the Ramada brand in Tunisia.
Located on the 'Cote de Carthage', close to the capital Tunis, the Ramada Plaza Tunis previously traded under the Corinthia Brand, which has since been upgraded to reflect the company's upper 5-Star Deluxe properties only. The hotel will, however, retain its formal 5-star rating.
The Ramada Plaza Tunis is the second hotel operated by Corinthia Hotels International to be re-positioned on the market under the Ramada Plaza brand, the other being the Ramada Plaza Budapest in Hungary, formerly the Corinthia Aquincum Hotel. Both hotels will continue to be operated by Corinthia Hotels International, in line with its joint venture agreement with the US based Wyndham Hotel Group. The Ramada International's portfolio consists of some 900 hotels in 33 countries.
US Ambassador to Tunisia Robert F. Godec, Ramada Plaza representative Edwin Broers and some 250 guests, attended an inaugural gala dinner at the hotel.
The Ramada Plaza Tunis, which has just completed an extensive renovation programme of all of its bedrooms and corridors, offers 310 air-conditioned rooms and suites, 24-hour room service, conference and banqueting facilities for up to 600 delegates, secretarial and business services, an extensive fitness centre, four pools, four restaurants, bars and lounges, a private sandy beach with facilities for horse-riding, biking and trekking, the use of nearby tennis courts and a golf course.
