Mr Patrick Briffa (pictured right) bars manager at Le Méridien St Julian’s, Balluta Bay will represent Malta in this year’s edition of the Bols Favourite Cocktail Competition.
Bartenders across the globe have created their ultimate national cocktail, a drink capturing the character and personality of their nation and people. Bols distributor in Malta – Wands Limited asked Mr Briffa to prepare a unique colorful cocktail to represent Malta in the competition. Mr Briffa said that is is a great honor for him to represent our islands in this competition.
In the first stage, participants will compete on an international level via online submissions on www.bolsaroundtheworld.com, where one can submit votes for their favourite cocktail/bartender. The gran finale sees the Top 10 Cocktail Masters mixing their cocktails for a judging panel of industry experts at the Bols Global Shake-Off in Amsterdam in March.
Mr Briffa has already represented our islands in numerous other worldwide competitions including IBA-WCC’s 2005 edition held in Helsinki, 2004’s Grand Marnier’s Cocktail Competition in Monte Carlo, IBA-ICC 2001’s edition in Rio de Janeiro, IBA-ICC 1999’s edition in Goteberg, that of 1998 in Lisboa preceded by that of 1996 in Lisbon and also in the International Cocktail competition in Monaco. Having won the National Cocktail Competition in Malta with his sumptuous cocktail named Perfect Match, Mr Briffa also competed in this year’s worldwide competition in Taiwan and placed an impressive seventh place.
Mr Briffa joined Le Méridien St Julian’s at its opening stage last year having had considerable experience in the sector in numerous five and four star properties on the island. He is a member of the Maltese Bar Tenders Guild and the International Bar Tenders Guild.
