WasteServ Urges disposal of expired medicine and syringes at its Civic Amenity Sites

Malta Independent Saturday, 26 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

WasteServ Malta Ltd is urging the public to collect and safely dispose of needles, syringes, expired medicine and other drug related items at its civic amenity sites in Mriehel and Maghtab.

Members of the public may collect a special container free of charge from the sites, and once deposited in the correct way, are given another free box to be used until the next visit. The waste deposited in the hazardous waste container is later treated by WasteServ in a safe manner in compliance with local and foreign legislation.

WasteServ’s civic amenity sites allow the public to drive through, to separately dispose of different materials including electronic waste, used furniture items, garden waste, cardboard, mattresses, and waste oils. Containers to receive the waste fractions, which are normally deposited at the bring-in sites, are also available at these facilities.

The sites are open to receive and assist the public from 7.30am to 5.30pm daily, including weekends and public holidays.

For more information on exact directions to visit any of the civic amenity sites, the public may call freephone 8007-2200.
