People who have ordered a new car and who are eagerly awaiting its delivery were up in arms last week because of the inordinate delays car importers are facing for the release of number plates.

Some claimed they had been waiting for as long as 12 days for their number plates, without which they cannot drive the car.

The people buying the cars and the car importers would have already paid their Customs dues at this point and are rather nonplussed as to what may be the reason for the delay. Some have also been heard claiming that not all cars being imported and not all car importers face the same delays.
