A Luxembourger living in St Paul’s Bay yesterday was conditionally discharged after pleading guilty to grievously injuring his former girlfriend on 5 May 2005.
Andy Andreas Scoltes, 34, had originally been accused of detaining the woman against her will, which charge was dropped by the prosecution.
Magistrate Giovanni Grixti conditionally discharged Scoltes for three years.
Police Inspector Therese Sciberras prosecuted while Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for the accused.
