Air Malta’s Commercial Division has held a sales seminar for its outstation sales staff team. The seminar, which follows on similar meetings for the airline station managers, discussed various aspects of the airline commercial strategies, initiatives and activities for 2008/9.

Brock Friesen, Air Malta’s chief officer Commercial highlighted the recent increases in Air Malta’s traffic figures and the initiatives undertaken during last year to achieve these results. “Malta is the ideal short break destination. The islands boast of a very mild climate when compared to Central and Northern Europe. Our efforts to target short break holidays are yielding excellent results. Last year we saw a 6.7 per cent increase in passengers over 2006. The Maltese islands’ weather, coupled with the various historical and cultural attractions make Malta the ideal short break stay throughout the year,” said Dr Friesen.

The seminar discussed the airline’s sales and commercial strategy, revenue management, the group’s management system, pricing issues, ground operations, sales reporting, new electronic features that will shortly be introduced on Air Malta’s portal, outstation marketing and electronic ticketing. The meeting was also an opportunity to integrate more Air Malta’s outstations staff with head office.
