ADT Denies bypass was closed ‘for nothing’

Malta Independent Thursday, 31 January 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Malta Transport Authority denied that the St Paul’s Bay by-pass had been closed to traffic “for nothing”, as ONE News reported.

Work on the completion of the road had started as soon as the stretch involved was closed. A six-metre wall has been built underneath the road to serve as support, the ADT said.

The by-pass was closed to traffic as soon as the work started, and five days later had been reopened in the direction towards Xemxija. The other side of the road was kept closed until the stretch was safe enough to be open for cars.
