The Police intervened in two separate cases of theft in Tarxien and Mosta on Sunday afternoon.

At around 2pm three men whose ages ranged between 17 and 36 years, were caught stealing materials from a construction site in Triq id-Dejma, Tarxien, and loading them into a van. Different types of tools and other materials which are used for construction were found in the van.

Some time later, at around 4.30 pm in Triq it-Torri, Mosta an individual noticed that someone was stealing from a parked car. When the thief realised he had been noticed, he got out of the car and started running.

The Traffic and District Police who were in the area ran after him and arrested him.

It resulted that he had stolen a car radio and a wallet.

A pen-knife and screw-driver were also found on his person. Shortly after, the Police arrested another man in connection with the same case.

The two men, aged between 32 and 35 years, are also being investigated in connection with another case of theft from a car that was parked in the same street.

A police inquiry is currently underway.
