Opposition Leader Alfred Sant yesterday said that a Labour government will stop all exploitation of women and youths who are not given the right working conditions because they are employed part-time.

Dr Sant spoke during his campaign trail on il-coach tal-bidla visiting four towns: Swieqi, San Gwann, Ta’ Xbiex and Msida.

However, even though Swieqi was supposed to be the first stop on the itinerary, the MLP coach did not stop there. The stage was set up for Dr Sant’s arrival and yet there were only around 10 people waiting. A few minutes after 6pm, the announcer informed those present that the MLP coach was not stopping in Swieqi but going straight to the second stop – in San Gwann.

In San Gwann a sizable crowd had gathered in the parking area next to the church and greeted Dr Sant with cheers while waving flags. There was also a good crowd in both Ta’ Xbiex and Msida.

Dr Sant said that a Labour government will give part-time workers, who are often exploited, all their rights and added that it will not close its eyes to any abuse.

“A Labour government will not cut corners – we will implement measures that will protect all the family,” he said.

The Opposition Leader said that the Nationalists are corrupt and incompetent – “they are promising change but it is too late.”

He repeated his promises to increase Malta’s economic growth by four to six per cent a year and promised to boost the manufacturing sector – not only where the low-end sector is concerned but also in IT and pharmaceuticals.
