Police Corps ‘being politicised’ – MLP

Malta Independent Wednesday, 27 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

Urgent works were in hand at present at the police general headquarters to complete and inaugurate a crime museum on 5 March, just three days before the general election, MLP interior spokesman Gavin Gulia said. The museum was being furnished just now and all possible human resources were being utilised to finish it in time.

Dr Gulia said this inauguration was part of the political strategy of the Interior Ministry for electoral purposes. It was truly shameful that the police were being used by the government for its partisan propaganda.

Just days before the election, he added, more police transfers were being ordered from one section to another, apart from the 149 ordered on 18 February.

This was being done to accommodate friends of the government, at the expense of other officials.
