A delegation from the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS) is back from a meeting in Perugia, Italy, held as part of an EU-funded project to develop a system of qualifications and competences in the hospitality industry which would be recognised across the EU.

In this fourth partnership meeting of the New Hospitality project, the results of surveys conducted last year among employers and workers involved in the hospitality industry in the participating countries were released.

At the end of the project later on this year, a New Hospitality EUROPASS will be finalised to foster employment opportunities and promote the transparency of qualifications and competences in the European hospitality industry.

The participants, apart from Malta, came from Italy, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovenia.

The Institute of Tourism Studies and the Malta Union of Teachers are the Maltese partners in the project, which was conceived and proposed as part of the priorities of the Leonardo da Vinci 2006 programme, partly funded by the European Commission (I/06/B/F/PP-154078).
