Bank of Valletta is continuing to reinforce its strong support of arts and culture in Malta by sponsoring an exhibition entitled 'New Faces 2008'. The objective of this exhibition, currently running at Gallery G in Lija, is to promote new artistic talent on the Maltese Islands.

11 artists were short listed by Gallery G's panel of judges to take part in New Faces 2008. These are Christina Acar, Doranne Alden, Sarah Calleja, Joseph Ellul Vincenti, Margaret Ellul Vincenti, Gulay Esinduy, Louis Mifsud, Sergio Muscat, Godwin Muscat Azzopardi, Martina Salomone and Benjamin Whitney.

The Bank's sponsorship was presented by John Galea, Manager of Bank of Valletta's Birkirkara Branch, to Karmen Grima, Director of Gallery G during a visit to the exhibition.

Speaking about the Bank's support, Mr Galea said that, "This is the third 'New Faces' exhibition that Bank of Valletta is supporting. We are proud of being the patron of local arts and we constantly seek ways of promoting the development of local artists. 'New Faces' is an excellent platform for upcoming artists to display their work in public for the first time. We also take this opportunity to wish all the artists well on their artistic careers".

Thanking Bank of Valletta for its ongoing support Ms Grima said that, "The 'New Faces' exhibition is now recognised as a launching pad for new artists. Indeed, participants in the previous editions of this exhibition have already established themselves in the local artistic scene and we envisage that in a few years time, some of the names in this year's exhibition will also become household names among Malta's artistic community".

The exhibition will run until Thursday 20 March at Gallery G in Lija, between 9am and 5pm on weekdays and between 9.30am and 12.30pm on Saturdays.
