TECOM Investments’ Sustainable Energy and Environment Division, and IBM Middle East at Dubai Internet City, have announced the implementation of an energy conservation programme to significantly reduce IBM’s carbon emissions. The programme is expected to reduce approximately 76 tonnes of carbon emissions annually in the IBM Middle East offices alone.

The implemented programme covers a number of energy use reduction initiatives, many of which are simple and straightforward steps that can be taken in any office to reduce the amount of energy that a business consumes. Heightened awareness of the issue among employees is critically important, according to IBM, which is an active participant in a number of key global conservation and environmental initiatives – including product development that reduces energy use and environmental impact of the manufacturing and use of technology resources.

The move comes after SEED initiated its comprehensive Energy Conservation Programme in April 2007, by optimising the operations of all electro-mechanical equipment at facilities managed by TECOM Investments as well as common areas.
