The Central Bank of Malta reminded the public that the latest date when Maltese lira banknotes and coins can be exchanged for euros or deposited at bank branches is Saturday, 29 March.

Maltese lira banknotes can also be deposited through ATMs and deposit machines or night safe facilities until Monday, 31 March.

The Central Bank will continue to exchange – without charge – Maltese lira coins until 1 February, 2010 and Maltese lira banknotes until 31 January, 2018.

No Maltese lira banknotes or coins will have any value after these dates.
